In cooperation with System Forest Co., Ltd. we provided UPWARD licenses free of charge to Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kuma Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, and Sagara Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, in response to the torrential rainfall in July 2020.
In the past, UPWARD and Salesforce were used to support the on-site survey and issuance of disaster victim certificates in Nishihara Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the Kumamoto Earthquake that occurred in April 2016.

AS IN THE CASE OF THE KUMAMOTO EARTHQUAKE, UPWARD WAS USED AS A TOOL TO COMPARE THE HOUSEHOLD INFORMATION REGISTERED IN CRM WITH THE DATA OF THE PROPERTY TO BE SURVEYED ON A MAP. EVEN IF THE PERSON CONDUCTING THE ON-SITE SURVEY DID NOT HAVE A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA, HE/SHE COULD CHECK THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE PROPERTY USING THE MAP, CONTRIBUTING TO A SMOOTH SURVEY PROCESS.
In addition, when accepting the issuance of disaster victim certificates, we asked those affected to confirm their location on a map. As a result, we were able to issue disaster victim certificates quickly, and as of 40 days after the disaster, Sagara Village in Kumamoto Prefecture had a 100% delivery rate of disaster victim certificates, while Hitoyoshi City and Kuma Village also had around 60% (according to Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun).
In the case of the flood disaster, the damage to homes caused by flooding and other factors was extensive, and it was necessary to conduct on-site surveys and issue disaster victim certificates more quickly to ensure the early reconstruction of the area.
With unstable communication environment due to collapsed buildings and bridges, staff members from other municipalities rushed to the site to conduct on-site surveys and to assist at the various disaster victimization certificate reception desks set up in various locations.
By using UPWARD, we were able to conduct the survey smoothly even for staff who did not know the area well, and we were able to communicate smoothly with visitors to the reception desk by confirming the location of their residences on the map. The system also worked very smoothly over mobile Wi-Fi, and we were reminded of the effectiveness of cloud services under such circumstances."
