GSI AND UPWARD CORPORATION COLLABORATE IN MULTI-SECTOR

UPWARD Corporation (Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ryusuke Kaneki; URL: https://upward.jp), whose vision is to "Innovate the Last Mile in the Field," announced on March 25, 2021, a collaboration with the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. By collaborating with different sectors of the public and private sectors, UPWARD aims to solve social issues by utilizing geospatial information.

Background of Multi-Sector Collaboration

In January 2021, UPWARD was recognized as an excellent case study by the Public-Private Partnership Platform for Local Development SDGs for its use in issuing disaster victim certificates in support of disaster-affected areas. In January 2021, this application was recognized as an excellent case study by the Public-Private Partnership Platform for Regional Development SDGs. Against this backdrop, by expanding service development into the BtoG domain, we aim to solve social issues mainly faced by local governments by utilizing geospatial information technology, which is one of our greatest strengths. To this end, we held a discussion with Mr. Hidenori Fujimura, Director, Planning and Research Division, Geospatial Information Department, GSI, whose mission is to "promote partnerships through geospatial information" in the SDGs Action Plan 2021. We aim to mutually collaborate on solving social issues in Japan and abroad.

GSI is a national asset and holds the map base information that is maintained every year, and we, a SaaS provider that delivers location information in an easy-to-use format to users, hope to enhance the co-creation value of multi-sector collaboration, such as BCP solutions for social issues in Japan, a disaster-prone country. We will continue to utilize geospatial information and related technologies. We will continue to do our utmost to solve social issues through the utilization of geospatial information and related technologies.
