(Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Ryusuke Kaneki; URL: https://upward.jp), whose vision is to "Innovate the Last Mile in the Workplace," will be releasing an application for local governments on April 1, 2021 that will significantly reduce the workload of local government employees working on the ground in towns. By connecting "people who work for the city" and "people who live in the city" through IoT, we will realize "Society 5.0".
April Dream April 1 is Dream Day. This press release is an April Dream of UPWARD Co. This press release is April Dream of UPWARD Co.
Society 5.0," a policy initiative of the Cabinet Office, refers to a new society following the hunting society (Society 1.0), agricultural society (Society 2.0), industrial society (Society 3.0), and information society (Society 4.0), and is proposed as the future society that Japan should aim for. It has been proposed as the future society that Japan should aspire to.
"In the information society (Society 4.0) to date, there has been a problem of insufficient cross-disciplinary collaboration due to a lack of knowledge and information sharing. (Omitted.)
The society realized by Society 5.0 will overcome these challenges and difficulties by connecting all people and things through the Internet of Things (IoT), sharing various knowledge and information, and creating new values never before seen. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) will provide necessary information when it is needed, and technologies such as robots and self-driving cars will overcome issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population, depopulation in rural areas, and disparities between the rich and poor. Through social transformation (innovation), we will break through the stagnation of the past and create a society of hope, a society where people respect each other across generations, and a society where each individual is comfortable and can play an active role."
These approaches toward the realization of "Society 5.0" are also effective in achieving the UN SDGs, as they can be used to solve various social issues around the world.
UPWARD aims to achieve "Society 5.0" and the SDGs by going beyond the boundaries of business to make "workers" in the city smarter and "residents" happier. UPWARD has so far developed its services mainly for the private sector, and is being used by about 300 companies, mainly enterprises, for DX at their sales sites. By expanding its services into the B-to-G domain, UPWARD hopes to contribute to solving social issues faced mainly by local governments by leveraging its greatest strength, geospatial information technology.
*The use of geospatial information technology is also clearly stated in the Japanese government's SDG Action Plan 2021, "Priority 8 [Main Efforts]: Systems and Means to Promote SDG Implementation," as follows.
Promotion of Partnerships with Geospatial Information
Promote the use of geospatial information in multiple fields, including disaster management, through domestic and international partnerships, including the UN Initiative, the UN Committee of Experts, and collaboration with local governments, as well as industry-academia-government partnerships.
